Double Chin Treatment

Submental fullness, sometimes referred to as “double chin”, is a common yet undertreated facial aesthetic condition. It impacts a broad range of adults, including both women and men. The occurrence of a double chin is influenced by several factors, such as aging, genetics and weight gain. Submental fullness is often resistant to diet and exercise alone. Having a double chin can detract from an otherwise balanced and harmonious facial appearance – leading to an older and heavier look. According to a 2014 survey by the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, approximately 7 out of 10 consumers are bothered by a double chin[1]. Until now, chin liposuction or a surgical neck lift has been the only way to eliminate the unwanted double chin.

At Sima Medical & Cosmetic Clinic, we offer KYBELLA™ (deoxycholic acid) injection, also known as ATX-101, which is the first and only FDA-approved nonsurgical treatment that contours and improves the appearance and profile of moderate to severe fat below the chin. KYBELLA™ is specifically designed for double chin removal.

How it works:

KYBELLA™ is a non-human and non-animal formulation of deoxycholic acid, a naturally occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. When injected into subcutaneous fat, KYBELLA™ causes the destruction of fat cells. Once destroyed, those cells cannot store or accumulate fat. The treatment is currently approved to provide a non-surgical neck lift. KYBELLA™ is administered by injections into the fat under the chin. Each 15 to 20-minute treatment is customized to help achieve the client’s aesthetic goals for an improved chin profile. Once the desired result is achieved with KYBELLA™, re-treatment is not expected.

Anticipated Results:

Many clients experience visible results within two to four treatment sessions spaced at least one month apart. Up to six treatments may be administered. KYBELLA™ treatments have resulted in high client satisfaction.
